Major breakthrough for fiberglass
BreathSaverTM, a Reinforced Thermosetted Resin Conduit (RTRC) is poised to meet new, even more demanding, challenges. After having been successfully evaluated by Underwriters Laboratories to both Riser and Plenum requirements as defined in the NFPA 262, UL 1666 and UL 2024 standards, FRE Composites' BreathSaverTM, conduit is poised to comply with even more stringent requirements.
Underwriters Laboratories and U.S. building codes recognize compliance with the ASTM E84 (UL 723) 25/50 rating for flame spread and smoke developed as demonstrating suitability for installation in a plenum or air-handling space. Testing by UL has now demonstrated that BreathSaverTM, conduit complies with these requirements, which consequently opens up a whole new range of market applications.
FRE Composites has proposed a change to the NEC which would allow BreathSaverTM, conduit to be installed in plenum and air-handling spaces not only for optical fiber installations but also as a general-use wiring method.
This product development is another demonstration of the technical expertise supporting FRE Composites.
BreathSaver™ conquers new grounds
Transit installation designers are not new to the use of our BreathSaverTM products, which are considered one of the safest Rigid Nonmetallic Conduits (RNC) available on the market today. Now the European Rail Company has joined the bandwagon. "We are very much confident that the product characteristics will contribute not only to a successful installation of this premiere, but set the standard for future projects as well.” stated Karine Durocher, product technician.
This first installation is an important stepping stone to its use in multiple locations of the European Rail company network.
Amtrak 1St Avenue Vent Shaft chose BreathSaver™
Amtrak has once again clearly stated its preference when it comes to safety and performance. Its 1st Avenue Maintenance facility vent shafts will all be wired using FRE Composites’ BreathSaverTM conduit. Recognized as the leading Rigid Nonmetallic Conduit (RNC) for use in these applications, this Five-Star Electrical project will be supplied by a longstanding distributor of FRE Composites in the Big Apple, Avon Electrical Supply.
